Envicool and Intel Work Together to Accelerate Liquid Cooling Innovation for Data Centers in China

09-28, 2024

On September 26, Intel launched the Xeon® 6 Core Processor "Granite Rapids" and announced the DCAI China Liquid Cooling Innovation & Accelerator Program.

As a partner in this program, Envicool Coolinside full chain liquid cooling solutions including BHS-AP Cold Plates, UQD Quick Disconnects, Manifold, and CDUs,etc. have passed Intel qualification testing.

Summary of the image: The DCAI China Liquid Cooling Innovation & Accelerator Program aims to establish a advanced and reliable data center liquid cooling ecosystem, accelerating the transition to sustainable, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly data center operations. Envicool is the first local partner providing liquid cooling cold plates and quick disconnects.

Rebuilding industry standards through multiple rigorous tests and verification

Vice President, GM of Datacenter and AI Group Intel China, Peter Chen, indicated that Envicool Coolinside solution, with its cutting-edge advantages in the field of liquid cooling, has contributed to Intel in product technology innovation and the unification of industry standards, ensuring the successful large-scale application of liquid cooling technology.

As the first local partner in China to provide cold plate liquid cooling solutionfor the Intel® Xeon® 6 Core Processor platform, Envicool Coolinside full chain liquid cooling solution has successfully passed a series of rigorous long-term operation tests by Intel, earning high recognition for its practicality and reliability.

In terms of assessment and verification, Intel conducted reliability verification on Envicool liquid cooling CDU, including cooling performance ratings and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). Intel also evaluated the CDU's 10-year thermal performance and the wear of key components such as pumps, valves and sealings.

Moreover, Envicool’s UQD series of quick disconnects meet Intel's identification and termination requirements, they have passed pressure, temperature, sealing and interchangeability tests; the cold plates for BHS-AP platform CPU have successfully passed hydrostatic pressure tests. Additionally, Manifold has undergone verification for material, size, scalability, connection methods, pressure tests, leakage tests, etc.

Stable and reliable lifetime capable of managing 1GW+ liquid cooling

As the pioneer of full chain liquid cooling solutionsEnvicool Coolinside solution leverages its advantage of end-to-end and full-chain, integrating R&D, production, delivery and services. With the ability to manage over 1 GW of liquid cooling throughout its lifecycleEnvicool Coolinside solution is energy-savingefficientsafe and reliable.

Regarding practicality, Envicool cold plates are compatible with the Intel BHS-AP platform CPU, meeting 550W cooling requirements with high reliability, low thermal resistance and low flow resistance. The CDU operates stably within temperature range of 5℃-45℃ and humidity range of 10%-90%RH. The patented UQD series quick disconnects is wear-resistant, sealed and corrosion-resistant, matching with the male or female ends of the same series from different manufacturers. The Manifold is mainly used to distribute coolant among different servers or electronic equipment, facilitating efficient and precise cooling distribution while ensuring temperature control and performance stability.

Win-Win Collaboration-advancing liquid cooling technology together

To promote the large-scale application of liquid cooling technology, Envicool has been exploring the optimal solutions with "full chain" mindset while continuously strengthening its collaboration with Intel. Envicool has achieved significant breakthroughs in various areas, including innovative design of cold plate heat exchange and flow channels, optimization of materials and sealing structures for quick disconnects, enhancements in pipeline production and assembly processes, ongoing improvement in CDU performance, reinvention of heat dissipation sources for liquid cooling needs and research on long-lasting coolant formulations.

As the member of Intel OCSP community cooling module working group, Envicool actively participated in discussions of the "Open General Purpose Server Specification"In collaboration with Intel and 19 other enterprises, Envicool jointly released the white paper-Innovative Practice of Green Data Center: Cold Plate Liquid Cooling System Design Referenceaiming to accelerate the adoption and application of liquid cooling technology among other server manufacturers.

In the future, Envicool will continue to innovate liquid cooling technology and expand market applications, deepening cooperation with clients such as Intel based on the core values of "professional, value and trust". Together with its partners, Envicool is committed to accelerating the development of green computing power.
